Yaxchilan & Bonampak
Buenos Dias Mexico

In the morning you are, according to your arrival, picked up at the bus terminal or your hotel and the tour takes you to Yaxchilan and Bonampak. Both of them used to be important power centers of the Mayas and are still unfrequented by the tourists. Quite often, visitors come across monkeys, which vociferously protect their territory. It is important to wear sturdy shoes because often you have to get out of the way of little sticks, which are thrown by the monkeys. The ruins are situated at the boundary river to Guatemala called Usumacinta and you reach them by boat only. In Bonampak, you have time to marvel at the amazing mural painting in the temple de las Pinturas. The site was discovered in 1946 but most parts of the former temples are still hidden under the overgrown vegetation of the rain forest. Worth seeing are also the monuments of Chan Muan that acceded the throne of Bonampak in 776, and the countless other temples and shrines in the area. You leave the ruins in the late afternoon and you arrive in Palenque at about 7 pm. According to the further course of your trip, you are brought to your hotel, the airport or the bus terminal.
