In the morning you are, according to your arrival, picked up at the bus terminal or your hotel and brought to the archeological site Mayapan and the caves of Loltún. Nowadays, most of Mayapans former settlement is covered with green grass, but still, the preserved fragments are amazing and worth a visit. Some of the buildings, such as the Castillo-Pyramide, are replications of the marvelous Chichen Itza, just not as crowded as the sister pyramids. After the visit of Mayapan, the tour takes you to Loltún, which means flower made of stone. The caves full of stalactites and stalagmites are the biggest and the most amazing ones of the whole region. In former days, the cave system was really important for the people because they used it as habitation and iconic sites. Still the caves are mystical and the magnificent cave paintings tell a lot of the life of the ancient inhabitants. All together, the cave has a length of approx. 8 to 10 km, but only 2 km of the caves are able to be visited. After the amazing inspection of gangland, you return to Mérida, where you arrive at 4 pm. According to the further course of your trip, you are brought to your hotel, the airport or the bus terminal.
