Tour description:

Oaxaca is famous for its indigenous cultures and their artistic abilities. After breakfast you will visit three small villages each specializing in different handicrafts. The first stop is at the village of Jalietza, located 25km from Oaxaca and famous for intricate weaving and embroidery done on waist looms. Visit the 17th century Temple of Saint Tomas before continuing on to the village of Coyotepec. Here you will find a village dedicated to the production of black fired pottery. In small workshops using rudimentary wheels and old techniques spectacular pieces of shiny black pottery are created. The final stop of the day is the village of Tilcajete where colourful “alebrijes” are made. The carvings typically depict a combination of different animal attributes in brightly painted fantasy. Afterwards you will be returned to your hotel in Oaxaca.
