Riviera Maya – Snorkel with Whale Sharks
During this Mexico daytrip to Contoy Island, north of Cancún, you get very close to the famous whale sharks and with a little luck you can also see dolphins and rays.
Tour description:
This morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Cancún at 07:00 am and you will embark on an extraordinary tour that takes you into the waters of the small uninhabited Island of Contoy north of Cancún. Here you will have the unique opportunity to get close to the majestic whale sharks. These friendly giants are up to 14 meters long and despite their formidable size they are absolutely harmless to humans and are quite curious and gentle. During an information session your guide will explain all about the animals and the local ecosystem before the whale shark observation begins. Here you have the opportunity to snorkel, swim and enjoy the colourful underwater world of the Caribbean and get in close contact with the whale sharks. If you are lucky, you will even see dolphins and rays as well. Afterwards you will be served a tasty and light lunch (included) on a wonderful sandy beach being returned to the mainland and taken back to your hotel.
This tour is only during the whale shark season from May to September. Since nature is not predictable, we do not provide any guarantee that whale sharks can be spotted. If the trip can not take place due to bad weather conditions, a replacement date will be offered.
