Day 1
Arrival in Mexico City

According to your time of arrival you are picked up from the airport in Mexico City and brought to your hotel. Overnight stay. (Meals: none)

Day 2
City Tour & Anthropological Museum

Today, you will be picked up from your hotel in Mexico City and taken on a city tour. Explore the centro histórico on foot and visit the huge Zócalo with its famous Cathedral “Metropolitina” and the Government Palace with its impressive murals by Diego Riviera, amongst others. Learn all about the fascinating histpry of the metropolitan capital. To make the city tour perfect, it finishes with an informative visit of the Anthropological Museum which is situated on the brink of the Chapultepec Park. Learn all about the history and culture of Mexico´s many pre-hispanic civilizations. Afterwards, you are brought back to your hotel in the late afternoon and you can enjoy some free time on your own. Day 3
Teotihuacán – Querétaro

You will be picked up from your hotel and taken 50km northeast of the city to the spectacular site of Teotihuacán, also known as the “City of the Gods”. Spread over 22km², it is the largest city of ruins in Latin America and the majority of it has yet to be excavated. You definitely should not miss out on climbing up the Sun and Moon Pyramids, as they provide an imposing view of the extent of this archaeological excavation. Continue to Querétaro´s historic center which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will explore the beautiful Plaza de la Independencia, the Convento de la Cruz, the famous Aqueduct and the Casa de la Marquesa, the most beautiful aristocratic palace of the city, amongst others. Day 4
Queretaro – Pinal de Amoles – Río Escanela – Jalpan

After breakfast, you head into the Sierra Gorda of Querétaro which is not visited as frequently by tourists and a great area to explore the unique vegetation of the region. The first stop is the small mountain village of Pinal de Amoles. Explore the charming town before continuing on to Rio Escanela where you can enjoy an approx. 2 1/2-hour-walk hike along and through the crystal clear turquoise river. The small paths ultimately lead you the the beautiful Puente de Dios (God´s Brigde), a naturally formed bridge across the river. Once you arrive, you can cool off in the natural pools (during the summer months). Afterwards, you continue to your private Cabaña with a spectacular view and beautiful modern architecture. Day 5
Jalpan – Xilitla – Jalpan 

Today, you will spend an unforgettabe day in Xilitla, the abstract mansion and surreal garden designed by Sir Edward James. Its unique structures were inspired by such artists as Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso. Explore the unique constructions which are covered in jungle vegetation and a contrast to the natural beauty and dense vegetation of the region. Enjoy some free time to relax and refresh in the natural pools and waterfalls found on the property. A real “off the
beaten path”
location, Xilitla is a hidden paradise to be discovered. Afterwards, if you want, you can fly through the air on a zipline over the jungle canopy for a rush of adrenaline before being returned to Jalpan. Overnight stay. (Meals: breakfast at the hotel)

Day 6
Jalpan – El Chuveje – Bernal – Mexico City

In the morning, you will be picked up and taken to the waterfall “El Chuveje”. After a short hike, you will reach the breathtaking waterfall, which is surrounded by turquoise blue water. You can cool off in the natural pools (in the summer months) before continuing on to the charming town of Bernal. Here you will climb up the notorious 288 meter high monolith Peña de Bernal which is the third highest in the world. It is said to have magical powers and to grant a long life to those who climb up to the top. Afterwards, take some time to explore the charming village and to try some of the traditional Gorditas (corn dumplings with your choice of filling). In the afternoon, you head back to Mexico City. Day 7
Paso Cortés – Mirador “La Joya” – Mexico City

Today another active part of your trip is waiting for you, because it goes to the famous volcanoes Popocatéptl and Iztaccíhuatl. According to an ancient Aztec legend, the two volcanoes represent a pair of lovers whose love ended tragically. At the beginning of your hike you will be brought to the starting point Paso Cortés, which is at an altitude of 3700 m. Already here a breathtaking view of the two volcanoes with their snow peaks fascinates. But it will be even nicer because today’s destination is the Mirador ‑ La Joya. Prepare yourself well and hike about 7 km through the beautiful landscape, constantly accompanied by the watchful views of the volcanoes. After about 3 hours and a height of about 300 meters you will reach the Mirador. All efforts are immediately rewarded by a breathtaking panoramic view of the volcanoes, which majestically tower in the distance. After you have rested a bit, you start your way back. Before you are brought to your hotel, make a short stop in the village of Amecameca, where you can stroll through the lively market and admire the fascinating church buildings. You will then be taken to your hotel in Mexico City. Overnight stay.  (Meals: breakfast at the hotel)

Day 8
Mexico City – Puebla & Cholula

Today you will be picked up at the your hotel in Mexico City and head towards Puebla, which is the fourth largest city in Mexico and the capital of the State of Puebla. The charming colonial city is full of history and is well known for its location between four volcanoes. One of them is the famous Popocatépetl. On your way to the city you visit the temple Santa María Tonantzintla and get to know Cholula, the holy city to visit the largest pyramid in Mexico in terms of dimension. In Puebla you enjoy a city tour through the historic centre, where you explore all the important sights like the Cathedral and the Santo Domingo Church. You will take a stroll along the beautiful streets and alleys and give the regional delicacies a try. Afterwards you will be brought to your hotel in Puebla. Overnight stay. Day 9
Puebla – La Malinche National Park

Today, you will be picked up from your hotel in Puebla and visit Tlaxcala, the capital city of the smallest Mexican state. Explore this quaint colonial town and admire the beautiful architecture and colonial atmosphere. Here you will enjoy a delicious lunch (optonal) before continuing on to La Malinche base camp where you will take a short 2-3 hour hike in order to allow your body to aclimatize to the high altitudes of the region. This volcano has been inactive for around 3,000 years and was named for the Indigenous mistress and interpreter for the Spanish conqueror Hernan Cortez. Get a good nights rest in the tranquil environment of your rustic mountain cabin in “La Malintzi” Base Camp in preparation for tomorrow´s summit. Overnight stay in cabin or tent. Day 10
La Malinche National Park – Oaxaca

Today your adventure to the top of the breathtaking volcano “La Malinche” starts very early in the morning. After a 4-6 hour climb you finally reach the summit at 4500 m where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding volcanoes Popcatépetl, Iztaccíhuatl, Pico de Orizaba and the sprawling valley below. Relax and explore the unique landscape of the caldera. After the 2-3 hours descent you will be brought to the bus station in Puebla. At the bus station, you catch your first-class bus with ADO to Oaxaca, where you arrive around midnight. Once arrived in Oaxaca, you will be picked up from the bus station and brought to your hotel. Day 11
Oaxaca – Mitla – Tule – Teotitlán del Valle – Hierve el Agua

You will be picked up from your hotel and taken towards the archeological excavation of Mitla. On the way you will stop at the famous tree of Tule which is the widest tree in the world. The tree is estimated to be more than 2000 years old and is marked by interesting formations. From here your tour continues to Mitla which is the second most significant Zapotec city besides Monte Albán. Explore this wonderful excavation with its geometric mosaics and fretwork. The next stop of the day is Teotitlán, a village of weavers. For hundreds of years a large number of families have produced all kinds of woven goods. Take the opportunity to watch weavers fabricate intricate artistic products and get an impression of their traditional way of life. After a short Mezcal tasting in a local Mezcal factory continue to the mesmerizing limestone waterfalls of Hierve el Agua. These waterfalls are, apart from Pamukkale in Turkey, the only natural phenomenon of its kind in the world. Even though the meaning of Hierve el Agua is boiling water, the springs in this area are cool and refreshing. We definitely recommend taking a dip in the natural pools while enjoying the fantastic panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. Afterwards you will be brought back to your hotel in Oaxaca. Day 12
Bike tour Monte Albán – Puerto Escondido

In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the beautiful Zapotec ruins of Monte Albán. Explore the unique archaeological site with your private guide and learn about this fascinating pre-colombian culture. The site was a political center and built in an excellent defensive position, located on an artificially flattened mountain at an elevation of almost 2000 m above sea level. After the tour it is time for your biking adventure. Bike to the quaint village of Arrazola which is famous for its colourful alebrijes and where you will take a tour of a workshop. Alebrijes are traditional artesenia found in Oaxaca and are intricate statues made from paper mache and painted in beautiful and colourful designs. After some time to rest and admire the craftmanship of these delicate pieces of art it is time to get back on your bike and ride to Cuilapam. Take a tour of the former Monestary which was established in 1550 and is a symbol of the once prosperous region. Continue on your bike to the town of Zaachila where you will have lunch (inlcuded) and be met by your driver and private car/van and returned to Oaxaca. You will be taken to the bus station in Oaxaca where you catch your first-class bus to Puerto Escondido. Night ride. (9 hours) (Meals: breakfast at the hotel + lunch on the tour)

Days 13-15
Puerto Escondido

You will arrive in Puerto Escondido around 6:00 a.m., where you will be picked up at the bus station and taken to your hotel. The following days are at your leisure in Puerto Escondido. The pacific beach with its sometimes meter-high waves against a backdrop of lush forests is still a real insider tip, far away from mass tourism. Treat yourself to delicious fish dishes in the numerous restaurants directly on the beach and watch the surfers on the spectacular surfing, or relax in the beautiful bay of Carrizalillo. Surf courses are also available all over the place in case you want to try yourself on the surfboard. Overnight stay. (Meals: breakfast at the hotel)

Day of Departure

Today it’s time to say goodbye and “Adiós” to Mexico, a beautiful, colorful and captivating country with its very special, hospitable and cheerful people. Depending on you time of departure, you will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the airport in Puerto Escondido, where your onward flight to Mexico City (not included) awaits you. (Meals: breakfast at the hotel)
