Mérida – Tour „Las Cantinas“

Discover Yucatán’s cuisine in a different way. On this Mexico daytrip you go to the traditional canteens of the “Las Cantinas” peninsula.

Tour description:

The concept of the cantinas is well known around the world and they have a variety of names such as taverns, pubs, canteens and saloons etc. “Las Cantinas” in Mexico are fun and traditional. The locals come here to socialize, enjoy some drinks and snacks and share traditional music with Mérida‘s latest stories.

Make your way (on your own) to the lobby of the Hotel Caribe which is the meeting point for the tour.

Today, you will immerse yourself in the special atmosphere of “Las Cantinas”. You will visit three different locations each with their own history and famous freshly prepared regional snacks which are known as “botanas”. Some of the snacks you may try are panuchos, salbutes, tacos, papadzules, among other stews and typical dishes. Your guide will tell you all about local history, funny anecdotes about the cantinas and with a little luck you may also meet the owners who are also local legends. Finally, you will be returned to the Hotel Caribe and can make your way (on your own) back to your hotel.
