In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel to begin your guided walking tour through the historical centre of Querétaro, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among other sites, you will visit the beautiful Plaza de la Independencia, the Convento de la Cruz, the famous aqueduct of Querétaro and the Casa de la Marquesa, the most beautiful colonial mansion of the city. Learn all about the local history and legends of this authentic colonial town before being returned to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon you can use to explore the city center by yourself, before you meet the team of Buenos Dias Mexico for a traditional Mexican dinner. Overnight stay. Today, you will be picked up from your hotel to follow the wine and cheese route. Querétaro has gained reputation in recent years for the excellent cheese produced in the region as well as becoming the second largest wine producing area in Mexico aside from Baja California. The first stop of the day is the Rancho Santa Marina which produces a variety of delicious cheese from goat and sheep´s milk. Enjoy a tour of the installations as well as of course a cheese tasting. Afterwards, continue to the cheese factory “Quesos Vai”, where you will get to know in detail how the production of cheese works continuing to the wineries “La Redonda” and “Los Azteca”. After a long and tasty breakfast you head to Bernal where you can climb the Peña de Bernal which is the third largest monolith in the world. Hike up the small steep paths (60 m) for a beautiful view over the surrounding countryside. It is said to have magical powers and to ensure a long life to those who climb to the top. The fabulous views and panorama of the Sierra of Querétaro compensate for all the effort. Afterwards, you can relax and enjoy the warm Mexican sun before you descend and continue to the greenhouse “Quinta Schmoll” in Cadereyta. Here, you can explore one of the most important cactus plantations of the American continent with over 5000 species of succulent plants and cacti in their natural habitat. Your next stop is in Tequisquiapan where you can have an authentic Mexican lunch. The village centre is THE place to be for antiques and art lovers. Afterwards, continue to a local opal mine. To get to the mine you must take a jeep on a bumpy adventure up to the opening of the mine. Here, you will learn all about the procees and will also be given tools to break some rocks and look for your own opal. Continue to a local workshop where you can see the final product of polished stone before returning to Queretaro. Overnight stay. (Meals: breakfast at the hotel & lunch on the tour)
