Day 1:

Today, you will be picked up from your hotel in Mexico City to begin your 3 day extreme adventure hike to the top of the snowcapped volcano Iztaccihuatl. First, you will be taken to the small town of Amecameca which is one of the most important base camps for climbers and hikers in the region. The next stop is the historical Paso de Cortés, where we will obtain your park permits, and enjoy spectacular views of the Iztaccíhuatl and Popocatépetl volcanoes. Continue to La Joyita, the park’s main parking lot, and enjoy a hike over several kilometers of beautiful forest landscapes until you reach the lookout point of “La Boca del Tiburón”. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the volcanoes and spend the night in a mountain hut “Altzomoni Base Camp” in shared rooms or in a comfortable 4-season tent (depending on availability in cabins).

Day 2:

After a hearty breakfast (included), you will hike to the Iztaccíhuatl “Third Door”. Take in the scenery and vegetation on the invigorating hike while your body acclimatizes to the altitude. The difference in altitude on today´s hike is 700 m. Once you reach the “Third Door”, enjoy a light lunch (included). Explore the area and enjoy an early dinner (included). In preparation for the summit, you will do an equipment check with your guide and by 8:00 pm you will head to bed. You need to get a good night’s sleep before tomorrow’s challenging climb.
