The United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) protects historical cultural sites (world cultural heritage) and unique landscapes (world natural heritage) due to their uniqueness, authenticity and integrity. Mexico is one of the most important countries on the American continent due to its rich cultural history and diverse landscape and still has it today 28 UNESCO-World Heritages and 4 UNESCO-World Natural Heritages.
