On this Mexico daytrip the sight of the pink water of the “Las Coloradas” will take your breath away. Enjoy a boat trip through the lagoon before visiting the Mayan site Ek Balam.
Today, you will be picked up very early and taken to Rio Lagartos where you will enjoy a boat trip through the lagoon and magroves. This nature reserve is still untouched and your guide will point out the unique flora and fauna of the region such as flamingos, eagles, herons, geese, pelicans and if you are lucky even crocodiles! Afterwards, stop at Mexico’s second-largest salt factory. On a sunny day you can enjoy a traditional mud bath on the beach and admire the unique pink hue of the water. Continue to a local restaurant for a delicious lunch (included). From here your journey continues to the beautiful and yet not overly-excavated site of Ek Balam. This is one of the few Mayan settlements inhabited until the arrival of the Spaniards. It stretches over twelve square kilometers and has a large square central area where the elite lived. Explore the ruins with your guide and finally have a short visit to a small Mayan village before being brought back to your hotel.
Note: Please note that the National Park Fee in Rio Lagartos is not included and must be paid on site. This tour is approx. 12 hours in total.
