Bike Tour Monte Alban
On this Mexico daytrip you explore the ruins of Monte Alban and you discover the beautiful surroundings of Oaxaca during the bike tour.
Tour description:
In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Oaxaca and taken to the beautiful Zapotec ruins of Monte Albán. Explore the unique archaeological site with your private guide and learn about this fascinating pre-colombian culture. The site was a political center and built in an excellent defensive position, located on an artificially flattened mountain at an elevation of almost 2000 m above sea level. After the tour it is time for your biking adventure. Bike to the quaint village of Arrazola which is famous for its colourful alebrijes and where you will take a tour of a workshop. Alebrijes are traditional artesenia found in Oaxaca and are intricate statues made from paper mache and painted in beautiful and colourful designs. After some time to rest and admire the craftmanship of these delicate pieces of art it is time to get back on your bike and ride to Cuilapam. Take a tour of the former Monestary which was established in 1550 and is a symbol of the once prosperous region. Continue on your bike to the town of Zaachila where you will have lunch (included) and be met by your driver and private car/van and returned to Oaxaca.
