On this Mexico daytrip you enjoy a magnificent climb to the spectacular volcano “Nevado de Toluca”.
Tour description
Today, you will be picked up from your hotel in Mexico City to begin your adventure to the top of the breathtaking volcano “Nevado de Toluca”. Approximately 22 km from Toluca, the Nevado de Toluca volcano which is sometimes called Xinantécatl is the fourth highest in Mexico at 4680m with spectacular crater lakes and a wide summit spanning 1.5km. From the base camp – Parque de los Venados you will begin your ascent and after about 3-4 hours of hiking you will reach the summit and will be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view over the region. With a little luck and clear weather you can even see the enormous Popcatépetl volcano in the distance. Explore the unique landscape of the summit and after a sufficient break begin your descent. Afterwards you will be returned to your hotel, the bus station or the airport in Mexico City.
Note: We recommend this tour only if you are in good physical condition and health. The ascent is classified as low difficulty and can therefore be carried out with little hiking experience.

Packing list for your volcano climb:
- Hiking boots
- Functional and thermal undergarments depending on the season
- Sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50
- Goretex or polar fleece sweater
- Hat or ear protection
- Gloves
- Waterproof and windproof jacket (ask for temperatures before)
- Sunglasses with high UV protection
- Small and comfortable backpack for the ascent itself, preferably with water tank
- Hiking/ski poles as needed
- Headlamp
